Our Story
Formerly known as Chorleywood Christian Singles Fellowship, and under the spiritual oversight of Christ Church, Chorleywood, this ministry was first established in Watford several years ago, where our founders, Verity and Mark, were living at the time.
Over the years it has taken different shapes and been supported by various volunteers, yet the heart and vision have never faded. Now with a fresh new look, we’re excited to grow this community — celebrating singleness as a purposeful and powerful season in God’s plan.

Many single Christians long for meaningful friendship, spiritual encouragement, and a sense of belonging within the church. Yet much church life naturally centres around couples and families.
A Christian singles ministry creates space for connection, discipleship, and mutual support — affirming that singleness is not second best, but a valued and purposeful season in God’s kingdom.
"Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. Verity & Mark Allen
Verity and Mark faithfully lead a home group in their church and have been championing singles ministry for many years alongside a variety of other voluntary roles. They’re passionate about creating spaces where single Christians feel seen, valued, and encouraged in their walk with God — and they bring wisdom, warmth, and humour to our meetups.
Nick Aston
Nick Aston
Nick is a committed supporter of the singles ministry and is involved in many areas of church life, including drumming on the worship team. A gifted osteopath by profession, he’s equally known for hosting legendary BBQs and baking delicious treats to share!
Kate Hui
Kate Hui
Joining the team in 2025, Kate brings fresh enthusiasm and a heart to see Thrive flourish. A natural encourager, she longs to build up the body of Christ through this singles ministry and to see others grow in their gifts and calling.
